  Eats 2 qts oil every 1000 mi. - 2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder

  Driving has been just fine, nice handling, somewhat anemic power, but adequate. Engine eats 2 qts of oil every 1000 miles, and oil has been changed at a dealership every 3000 miles, but Toyota Extra Care is trying to deny warranty. Car is bone stock, always maintained, and because I didnt just run it out of oil like everyone else does, Im getting penalized. I should mention, Ive worked for Toyota for 13 years. Way to take care of your people, guys.

  This thing ROCKS! I dont know what I enjoy most: The incredible handling, the 30+ miles per gallon, or getting more attention than the Ferraris and Boxters out there! After 1 year of ownership, no problems yet.

  Ive owned my Spyder now for better than 3 years. Its used as a fair weather driver exclusively. For its design as an "inexpensive sports car" its a winner. Dont buy this one expecting to use it for much more than FUN. Luggage/Storage is a joke. Although its a very light vehicle, I find myself looking for just one more gear (5 isnt quite enough) and a bit more power. Simply a FUN TOY if your in the market for one. Bottom line, drive this one before you spend the added $$ for anything else!

  Toyota quality is in this vehicle, it has held up remarkably well over the last 5+ years. Ive only had some minor problems that were easily fixed.

  My 2001 Toyota Mr2 Spyder has been a pleasure to own. It handles great in all conditions. This is truly a thrilling car to drive with the top down. The engine is peppy and it shifts like a dream. The ride is stiff and bumpy but I still love it!

  As a good general all around sports car it is great, at the top end of the lower priced affordable cars. Like it a bit better than my Miata. Read wheel rear engine drive makes the car a unique handler. Front end might be a bit too like but as long as you know it not a real issue. Easier on long trips as the Miata, but not as good a my 350Z. Best description! fun.

  Ive never been enamored of any vehicle as I am with this one. When i drive this car, I have a smile on my face. Everyone looks at me in this car and the handling is unbelievable. Its fast, its great looking, it handles curves beautifully. I love driving the hills at night with the top down. This is pure, unadulterated pleasure.

  I was always intrigued by this car but living in the Northeast didnt think it was very practical to buy. What a mistake. I LOVE driving now. Cant wait for spring to fire it up again and hit the road. It is a blast to drive. Its like the go-cart you had as a kid... on steriods! Toyota quality at a great price!
